A highly anticipated event, now in its third edition but already a must for walkers from all over Italy. From Monday 30 September to Saturday 5 October, Noi Camminiamo in Sardegna 2024 (We Walk in Sardinia 2024) will take place, an event that is part of a wide-ranging regional project, launched by the Sardinian Department of Tourism, Crafts and Commerce, to enhance the ‘experiential, slow and sustainable tourism’ segment.
During the week dedicated to the event, groups of around 25 people – each composed of journalists, content creators, travel bloggers, influencers, tourist and hiking/environmental guides, photo-video reporters, tour operators, camminantes, experts and enthusiasts in the sector – will walk simultaneously on selected itineraries. The walks are distributed throughout all the territorial areas of Sardinia, and they have been proposed by the operators enrolled in the ‘Registro dei Cammini e degli Itinerari dello Spirito’ (The Paths and Spiritual Routes Register).
Here are the numbers of the third edition: 16 itineraries for a total of 800 kilometres, with 70 municipalities involved; eight itineraries proposed by the eight ‘Cammini’ enrolled in the Regional Register, another eight by the Pilgrimage Destinations. 500 participants in total, who will walk along exemplary stretches, each distinguished by its authenticity and identity and different in terms of narration, difficulty and walking time, of the following Ways: Cammino dei Beati, Cammino di Sant’Efisio, Cammino Francescano in Sardegna, Cammino minerario di Santa Barbara, Cammino di Santu Jacu, Cammino di San Giorgio vescovo di Suelli, Cammino 100 Torri and Via dei Santuari; and of the following eight Pilgrimage Destinations: Borutta, Dorgali, Galtellì, Gesturi, Laconi, Luogosanto, Orgosolo and Sant’Antioco.
After four days of walking along the proposed itineraries, on Friday 4 October, a delegation from each route moves to the village of Galtellì, for a general meeting of the participants. The following day, Saturday 5, the final day of Noi Camminiamo in Sardegna 2024 is dedicated to the final national conference, scheduled in the coastal hamlet of Dorgali, Cala Gonone, during which the experiences lived during the previous days of walking will be recounted by the real protagonists of the event, i.e. the ‘walkers’, who become the narrating voice of the emotions and sensations experienced.
